Obituary


Johnny was born on December 27, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army where he also went to dental lab school. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Johnny owned and operated Palo Duro Dental Lab in Amarillo for more than 40 years. Johnny loved playing guitar, cooking, gardening and taking care of animals. He also liked to tell stories and laugh with family and friends at the "North 40." Johnny was born on December 27, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army where he also went to dental lab school. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Johnny owned and operated Palo Duro Dental Lab in Amarillo for more than 40 years. Johnny loved playing guitar, cooking, gardening and taking care of animals. He also liked to tell stories and laugh with family and friends at the "North 40." He was a man who never met a stranger but his highest priority and greatest joy was being a father and grandfather to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claude and Clyde Montes.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Pam Montes; his children: Linda Joy and husband James of Denton, Texas; Nancy Vachon and husband Tim of Garden Ridge, Texas; Perry Montes and wife Jackye of Amarillo, Texas; Kelly Montes and husband Miles Blankenship of Amarillo, Texas; Grandchildren: Chris Vachon and wife Becca of Cibolo, Texas; Stephanie Pendino and husband Patrick of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia; Elizabeth Bonjour of Amarillo, Texas; Ashley Stidham and husband Cord of Silverton, Texas; Kayla Fuller and husband T.J. of Amarillo, Texas and Heather Montes of Amarillo, Texas; also by his great-grandchildren Alexis Vachon, Nathan Pendino, Logan Pendino, Tyler Vachon and Remington Stidham.
