Sidney was born in Amarillo to Al and Lillian Chism. He attended Caprock High School. Big city life appealed to Sid, so he ventured off to Southern California. After several years he felt the need for a more stable environment so he traveled to Chicago and was hired by one of the major airlines. He enjoyed 17 plus years there traveling worldwide, visiting places most folks only read or dream about. Sid was a real people- person and received several commendations for his personable professional attitude. Sid's deepest love was for his God. His unshakeable faith inspired many people. He was a member of Bethel Community Church in Chicago. Second to God was family- his mom and his two sisters.
Family also included his two kitties Petunia and Clarissa, along with his miniature dachshund. A "special thank" you to Jessica and Richard for their kindness and tender care they gave to Sid during his last few days. Also, thanks to all the staff at BSA hospice of the Southwest. We could never have asked for nor received better care for our precious loved one. A fitting memorial for Sid would be to simply love and treasure your family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Al Chism and Stepfather Al Jenkins.

He is survived by his mother; Sister Carrie and husband Leonard, sister Leah and husband Mike. Niece Sydney and husband Chase. Three nephews Benjamin and wife Berenice, Joshua and wife Kimberly, Lane and wife Neeley. Three grand nieces and eight grand nephews.

Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, Amarillo, TX.
